Transfer files from iPhone to a Android phone without a cable

Move photos, videos and documents from any iPhone to a Android phone with two browsers and a QR code: no cable, no app to install, no account. It works the same on every iPhone from the iPhone 11 to the iPhone 17, because nothing goes through the port. Each file is checked when it lands.

How to do it

  1. On the Android phone, open roomdisk.com/app in Chrome and choose Use this device as the spare disk. Files are kept in the Android phone’s browser storage.
  2. On the iPhone, scan the QR code with the Camera app and tap the roomdisk.com link. RoomDisk shows its own code.
  3. On the Android phone, tap Scan reply and hold the iPhone up to its camera. Or tap Share reply on the iPhone.
  4. Both say Connected. Choose files on the iPhone and send.

Why not a cable or AirDrop?

  • iPhone and Android can’t AirDrop to each other.
  • A cable between them needs adapters and usually an app.
  • Messaging apps compress photos and videos.

Every iPhone model

The port only matters for cables. RoomDisk sends over Wi-Fi, so these are here for reference: speed depends on your network, not the port.

Originals or compatible copies?

On iPhone, for exact originals, tap Options in the photo picker and choose Current, or pick from the Files app. Otherwise iPhone may send converted copies (for example JPEG instead of HEIC).

Questions

Do I install anything on the Android phone?
No. Open RoomDisk in Chrome.
Does my iPhone model matter?
No. Every iPhone from the 11 to the 17 works the same way, because the transfer is wireless and doesn’t use the port.
Do both need the same Wi-Fi?
Both devices need to reach each other: the same Wi-Fi, or one device’s hotspot (no data plan needed). To reach your disk from another network, there’s RoomDisk Anywhere.
Is there a size limit?
No upload limit: files go directly. The Android phone’s free space is the limit.
